FD&C RED NO.40  is a pure dye, not a lake dye. It is messier to work with than the lake dyes, we recommend you to wear gloves when handling the coloring powder as it may stain, you also need far less of the material. This dye is water soluble. When dissolved the color will be a nice warm red with orange undertone in the water. You can bloom the dye for more vibrant color in your bath bombs.

We recommend using 0.2 to 4 grams (1/8 to 2 teaspoons) per 1 kg of your bath bomb mix. Adjust the amount to get the effect you are looking for.

Nail polish: 5% color-95%polish

Soap: 1g to 7g per 500g of oils. (Liquid soap: blend the dye in water before adding to your liquid soap)

Soap melt and pour, HP and CP, colors will bleed and rub off.

Always test the colorant with your products.

Description

Our FD&C dyes are concentrated synthetic dyes for bath and beauty products. They are made and tested safely for the skin. The negative point in cold process soap is that they do bleed or migrate, so if you use several colors in your soap, be aware that they will blend together over time, which can ruin designs in soap if you use more than one color. Color migration occurs when one color slowly blend into another color over time. This eliminates the sharp lines that can be found in the design of the soap and can give the soap a confused, fuzzy and unprofessional appearance.
